About Ann the Artist

Ann Allan, a fervent linguist and modern languages teacher for 32 years at George Watson’s College, Edinburgh, was diagnosed with Motor Neuron Disease (MND) in August 2023. After rapidly losing the ability to use her limbs and to communicate through speech, she found positivity through art therapy at the Marie Curie Hospice.

Ever the teacher, Ann's paintings by mouth encapsulate her ethos for life-long learning of new skills no matter how hard the journey, inspiring friends and family alike. Through the sale of her art, Ann is supporting My Name'5 Doddie Foundation in their pursuit through research of a world free of MND.

To purchase Ann's art and support the hunt for a cure for MND, please view the gallery and click on the piece of art you would like.

Sadly, Ann lost her battle with Motor Neuron Disease on 17th April 2024. Her family is continuing to make prints of her paintings available to raise more funds for the fight against MND.
